SILENT FILMS WITH LIVE MUSIC
The period of silent films in the 1920s, also known as the "golden age", is undoubtedly one of the most evocative in the history of cinematography. It was an era in which the foundations of cinema were laid in just a few years, both narratively and technically - at least until the advent of digital media. It was a time of intense acting - with a strong emphasis on the physical -, spectacular sets - often in collaboration with famous painters and architects - and original camera movements - the work of daring operators and directors.
The innovative and even experimental aspect of these films serves as the perfect framework for an exploratory and avantgarde music - free and spontaneous improvisation. Using contemporary media such as electronics, Ebba and Gregorio create contemporary soundtracks. Music that can both accompany the projection and tell its own story; where rhythms and melodies flow organically and then dissolve into ever-changing atmospheres.
